Compositions

I spend a lot of time playing about with music on the computer. This section of my website is where I will upload anything I quite like. If you'd like to see the tools I use, they're all in the Music section. If you have any other questions then you can contact me using the form on the Contact page.

One thing you might notice is that my title's are sometimes fairly uninspired. More often than not they're just the first thing that comes to my head, consequently I have about a million files called "hmm", "lol", "blah" and so on.

Scary 48 (2009)

DownloadLength:5:40 Album:Stuff Genre:DanceModified:20th July 2009

This is a track I wrote in Reason, basically the only instruments it uses are Subtractors, ReDrum, and the NN-XT Samplers (which are playing samples recorded from various combinations of instruments in the track). The name should really be changed now as it's not nearly as scary as it was when I started it (and not even half as terrifying as my other song, "Spooky").

The song hasn't really been mixed as such yet, I've done some basic stuff to it using my hifi speakers (ahem), hopefully when I get uber-monies I'll buy some monitors. Although the arrangement seems like a full track (hopefully), I'm still working on it, so keep checking back for updates (going to work on the bass patch some more, tempted to bring in some glitchy/beepy stuff too). I'm also thinking about extending the track slightly, as when mixed (in the DJing sense) as part of a set, there isn't really v much time playing this track before you need to start bringing another in.

Hmms

This is rather a cheesey song I wrote in Reason 4 when I had nothing better to do. Not my usual style but I do quite like it. This song is fairly simple, just two Thor instruments and a ReDrum machine. Not sure which drum samples I'm using in this but I do quite like them (they may be the stock Reason hits).

Guiish (2009)

DownloadLength:1:01 Album:Stuff Genre:DanceModified:24th March 2009

This is just a sample of something I'm working on at the moment. I do quite like this, it's the first thing I've written in Cubase really (there are some other songs in the pipeline). This one is written pretty much all in Cubase 5 and makes extensive use of Native Instruments' Massive plugin.

I'm a bit worried about the bass that you hear just at the start of the sample, I thought it sounded familiar then when browsing through my albums to work out where I'd heard it before I realised it was incredibly similar to a song by Zero 7.

Droning (2009)

DownloadLength:4:43 Album:StuffModified:23rd March 2009

This song is all written in Reason 4. It makes quite extensive use of Thor and the Combinator. I quite like this song, although at the moment I'm not very happy with the drums and its a bit loopy. I might work on it some more in the future but I'm looking at other things now so we'll see.

The name 'Droning' came from the droning bass sound which can be heard through out the song.
